RED LIGHT ZONE
URBAN STUDY TO PROSTITUTION IN DEN HAAG

With the elimination of prostitution from the Criminal Code new opportunities are created for the entertainment industry. In the urban study 'Red Light Zone' a vision for the potential of the future for this industry is formulated. The vision includes the effectiveness of the existing data on prostitution to a program of requirements, a proposal for management and financing of the prostitution buildings, as typological proposals for the various forms of prostitution. The program is formulated in three spatial models developed and projected on several possible locations in the city. The study makes a geographical insight into what this industry, by its legalization could mean in the future for Den Haag and the region.

Three models:

1. Red light district model. These are all programs that deal with prostitution concentrated in a centrally located area in the center of the city. The area uses and is intertwined with the facilities in the city such as hotels, restaurants, shops, entertainment venues and parking.

2. Island model. In this model, all functions concentrated in an area outside the center. The site has an optimal accessibility. The area is a region function. Due to the large amount of people here, to rid this area will act as a magnet for other programs that are also are open day and night, making a 24-hour entertainment town with cinemas, casinos, discos, clubs, food courts and prostitution.

3. Cluster model. In this model, various clusters with prostitution are distributed around the city and linked to major urban functions. Clusters of prostitution buildings are linked to functions such as casinos, restaurants, discotheques and restaurants
