BLOEMERSHOF
URBAN ENSEMBLE WITH A SCHOOL, FIRE STATION, GYM AND HOUSING

The Bloemershof in Dieren consists of a school, a fire station, a gym and housing. The design is a result and further development of a winning competition design. It is designed as a characteristic urban ensemble, creating enclosed inner courtyards and keeping vistas to the green area behind. The various buildings have their own identity as well as being part of the urban ensemble. The architectural expression is one of a frozen forest.

The school is set up around a central hall, where the canteen and restaurant are located. From the adjacent cooking-class room meals can be prepared and served for the entire school or for people from the neighbourhood. The entrance for the students is located on the schoolyard, the entrance for visitors is located on the formal court. The teachers have their own wing, with views towards the hall and the schoolyard. The classrooms of the greenery, a popular department of the school,  are located adjacent to the schoolyard. It is the intention that all the greenery of the urban ensemble will be cared for by the school.

The gym is located in such a way that it can easily be entered from the school, but can also act independently. The firestation has its own entrance on the Burgemeester Bloemersstraat. On the ground floor the service areas are located. On the first floor more public functions, such as the instruction area and bar are located.

The house are connected to the street as well as to the inner court. By making a divers pallet of different housing types, various needs can be catered for within the unity of a characteristic urban ensemble.
