ARCHIVE DEPOT, LEEUWARDEN
450 M2 DEPOT IN LEEUWARDEN

The Archive Depot RGD is located along the Harlingervaart canal in Leeuwarden.
The building is a storage depot for the adjacent buildings. Its main function is to give  shelter.
Therefore the building could be treated as a sculpture, a freestanding object on the square along the Harlingervaart. The shape of the building follows the envelope of the program with cantilevers to accommodate the entry area and a higher accent of the volume on the south side of the building giving place to the installation units on the roof, thus forming an urban accent to the canal.

The foot of the building is set back to give the building the appearance of floating. This effect is strengthened with light under the cantilever.

The building is clad with metallic anodized aluminum panels with perforations and imprints.
A specifically designed pattern is wrapped around the building, enhancing the shape and dynamics of the building, and giving it a refined look.
